Light of Christ Longmont is an Ecumenical Catholic Community in Longmont, Colorado. We come from the Catholic Tradition but aren’t limited to the rules and authority of Rome. Our community is vibrant and boldly inclusive for all who, following the teachings and example of Jesus Christ, seek compassion, justice, and peace in the world.
We want to be clear about what we mean when we say we are boldly inclusive:
We ordain and empower women leaders.
Our leader and priest is Father Teri Harroun, a woman. Women and men are equal in the life of the church. Women are equally encouraged to participate in all aspects of church life and receive all sacraments. We believe in gender equity.
We’re a LGBTQIA+ affirming church.
We believe that LGBTQIA+ people are created in the image of God and are welcome to attend, participate, lead and serve in all aspects of church life. This means marriage, baptism, communion, and all other sacraments are available to LGBTQIA+.
We fully include those in interfaith and interdenominational families.
Many of our families include couples of mixed-faith or who come from interdenominational families. We hope that Light of Christ can be a welcoming church family to all, irregardless of your faith tradition, beliefs or doubts. We have families who include Jewish, atheist, and buddhist family members.
We fully include those who have been divorced.
If you’ve been divorced, you have a home at Light of Christ. You’re also welcome to attend, participate, lead and serve in all aspects of church life and receive all sacraments.
We strive to include everyone.
We offer gluten-free and grape juice communion for those who cannot consume gluten or alcohol; we include young and old in our service and we offer online church for those who are physically unable to attend in-person.
If you have questions about Light of Christ’s inclusion, please contact Fr. Teri.
